What is this?

Route identifies individual legs in the transportation of a shipment involving more than one railroad, including origin, intermediate and destination switches.

When is it used?

Used for any shipment travelling over multiple roads. The block is not required if the shipment is only travelling on CN.

The following information can be provided in this block:

Information Required Notes
Origin Road Required Railroad which picks up the shipment at origin.
Type Optional Service the railroad provides.
Origin Switch Optional Indicates which carrier is switching the car out of the siding.
Destination Optional Indicates which carrier is switching the car into the siding.
Roadhaul Optional Indicates the carrier that's moving the shipment from origin to destination
Junction Optional Location where the shipment passes to the next railroad.
Road Optional Next railroad to transport the shipment.
