Vice-President and Treasurer


Bernd Beyer was appointed as Vice-President and Treasurer in October of 2015. Based in Montreal, he oversees CN’s Treasury and Taxation activities.

Mr. Beyer came to CN after 12 years with Rio Tinto, a leading global mining and metals company. At Rio Tinto (and Alcan, until it was acquired by Rio Tinto), he held various positions; most recently he was Regional Treasurer for the Americas. Previously, he was with the Bank of Montreal in Toronto and a major accounting firm in Montreal.

Mr. Beyer is a Canadian Chartered Accountant since 1995 and holds an MBA from McGill University.

NAYAN BHARADWA

Vice-President, Automated Rail and Technology


Nayan Bharadwa was appointed Vice-President, Automated Rail and Technology on February 2021, and is based in Montreal.

Nayan is responsible for the strategy, design and implementation of Operational Technology (OT) to enable Automated Train Operation (ATO) to improve CN’s safety, reliability and capacity.

Nayan joined CN in 2016 and was most recently Assistant Vice-President, Operational Technology. He led the successful implementation of Positive Train Control, the largest technology program in CN’s history and will continue to lead strategic initiatives, such as Automated Track Inspection Program (ATIP), Automated Car Inspection and Rail Automation.

Prior to joining CN, Nayan held key leadership roles in companies such as Intel, Nortel, and Bell Northern Research. Nayan has over 30 years of experience in technology and led organizations in innovation, research and development, customer operations and business. He has received multiple industry and corporate awards of excellence and innovation for enabling market leadership in the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Nayan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computing from the University of Calgary.

MOHIT BHAT

Vice-President, Innovation, Platforms and Data


Mohit Bhat was appointed Vice-President, Innovation, Platforms and Data on February 1, 2021 and is based in Montreal.

Mohit leads the innovation engine across CN and is responsible for the successful deployment of CN’s digital platforms. With a focus on data and architecture, Mohit and his team will help drive the successful deployment of technology and deliver an optimal digital experience to customers.

Mohit joined CN in December 2018 as Assistant Vice-President, Technology, Strategy and Architecture. He and his team have leveraged modern technical capabilities such as artificial intelligence, advanced analytics and digital software engineering platforms to make our railroad safer and more efficient. These new digital platforms are also harnessing real-time data to empower the whole supply chain to make quicker, better-informed decisions.

Prior to CN, Mohit worked for over 15 years in various multinational technology firms in Europe, Middle East and Asia regions. During this tenure, he used his technology expertise to solve complex business challenges in logistics and energy management industries. He built and enhanced senior level relationships, managed P&L, and led large business and technology transformation initiatives.

Mohit holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering and computer sciences from Pune University in India.

DAN BRESOLIN

DAN BRESOLIN

Vice-President, Intermodal


Dan Bresolin was appointed Vice-President, Intermodal in January 2020. He is based in Brampton, ON.

Currently representing a substantial portion of CN’s revenues, Intermodal is critical to CN’s current and future success. In this expanded role, Dan will focus on driving growth in both Domestic and International Intermodal and will be responsible for all components of CN’s International and Domestic portfolios, including regional sales, marketing, brokerage and CN WorldWide freight forwarding services.

Since he joined CN in 1999, Dan has taken on increasing responsibilities through his various roles as Assistant Vice-President Intermodal, Assistant Vice-President International Intermodal, Director of Marketing, Intermodal International and Director of Sales of both Strategic Sales and Domestic Intermodal.

As a qualified Rail Conductor and Intermodal Crane Operator, Dan takes great pride in his knowledge and experience in rail operations and in helping add value for Intermodal customers.

OLIVIER CHOUC

OLIVIER CHOUC

Vice-President, Law


Olivier Chouc was appointed Vice-President, Law in January 2011. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of Université Laval in 1990 and was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 1991. He left private practice in 1998 after seven years at Ogilvy Renault, to join Abitibi-Consolidated (Donohue Inc.) as in-house counsel, where he was responsible for supporting procurement management as well as the company's real estate, litigation and intellectual property portfolio. He was also entrusted with transactional work, including with some aspect of the major transaction leading to the sale of Donohue Inc. to Abitibi-Consolidated. In 2000, he joined the CN Law Department in a counsel capacity to support real estate, supply management, as well as transactional work. He then moved to a senior counsel position with increased responsibilities in the area of mergers and acquisitions and was eventually responsible for the management of the mergers and acquisition group. In 2006, he was named Assistant Vice-President, General Counsel and Managing Partner.

In 2005, he was named Canada's Top 40 under 40 In-House Counsel by the National Post.

Mr. Chouc is involved with charitable organizations, namely the Fondation Marie-Vincent, The Ted Nolan Foundation and the Fondation Enfants-Retour. He is currently the Chairman of the CN Employees' and Pensioners' Community Fund after ending a two year mandate as co-president.

CRISTINA CIRCELLI

Vice-President, Deputy Corporate Secretary & General Counsel


Cristina Circelli was appointed Vice-President, Deputy Corporate Secretary & General Counsel in August 2018, and is based in Montreal.

Her responsibilities include overseeing corporate governance matters and providing counsel on legal requirements and best practice recommendations to CN’s Board of Directors and Executive Team. She also has oversight of compliance with securities laws in Canada and the United States and disclosure matters, and provides support in financial transactions, pension and human resources matters.

Prior to joining CN in 1994 as General Counsel, Cristina was a partner at Montreal law firm Mackenzie Gervais, where she was involved in general corporate and commercial practice, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, in addition to specializing in institutional and corporate financing.

Cristina holds Civil and Common Law Degrees from McGill University and is a graduate of the ICD Directors Education Program. She is a past member of the board of directors of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute.

 
JANET DRYSDALE

JANET DRYSDALE

Vice-President, Sustainability


Janet Drysdale is a seasoned and versatile executive with 25 years of cross-functional leadership in the transportation industry.

Janet was appointed Vice-President Sustainability in April 2021, following a decade of service in senior executive appointments of increasing scope and responsibility. Prior appointments included Vice-President Financial Planning, Vice-President Corporate Development, and Vice-President, Investor Relations.

Janet leads CN’s Sustainability and Safety groups. She is responsible for the Company’s integrated sustainability strategy, with associated goals designed to drive sustainable long-term business results, reduce risk, identify opportunities, encourage innovation, improve resiliency, and adapt to emerging mega trends. In collaboration with operations leadership, she is also tasked with shaping and fostering a strong safety culture through programs, practices, training, systems, and technology.

Janet is an independent director of Rumo S.A., Brazil’s largest freight railway, is Co-Chair of the CN Employees & Pensions Community Fund, and is the executive sponsor of the Women’s Employee Resource Group at CN.

Janet has long been an advocate for the rail industry, Canada’s critical supply chains, women in transportation, and the transition to a lower carbon economy.

Janet holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from Queen's University and an MBA from McGill University. In December 2020, she was recognized by the Women’s Executive Network (WXN) as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women in the CIBC Executive Leaders category.

SALVATORE FORGIONE

SALVATORE FORGIONE

Vice-President and Corporate Comptroller


Sam Forgione was appointed Vice-President and Corporate Comptroller in July 2016. Prior to that, he held the position of Vice-President, Investor Relations since March 2016.

Mr. Forgione is responsible for CN’s financial statements, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll among other areas.

He has been a Chartered Accountant since 1990 and began his career at CN in 1994 in Corporate Accounting, where he held positions of increasing responsibility. In 2001, he became Director of Corporate Development, focusing mainly on mergers and acquisitions. In 2011, Sam rejoined the Accounting department as Assistant Comptroller, General Accounting, before being appointed Assistant Comptroller, Revenue Management in 2012, and Assistant Comptroller, Financial Reporting in 2013.

Mr. Forgione is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and has a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a graduate degree in Accountancy from Concordia University in Montreal.

Allen Foster was appointed Vice-President, Bulk in April 2019, based in Calgary. Responsible for CN’s grain, fertilizers, sulphur, and coal and petroleum coke businesses, Mr. Foster was most recently Assistant Vice-President Bulk since 2014.

Mr. Foster joined CN in 1984 on the Engineering team, and has held positions of increasing responsibility in CN’s Engineering, Corporate Development, and Sales & Marketing groups, working in Winnipeg, Montreal, Edmonton, Vancouver and Calgary.

Mr. Foster holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Manitoba and is a Professional Engineer.

Martin Guimond was appointed Vice-President, Multimodal Operations in January 2017, based in Brampton, Ontario.

Mr. Guimond plays a leadership role in providing best-in-class service to CN customers through the company’s Intermodal, Iron Ore, Autoport and Transloading operations.

He joined CN after having held senior role responsibilities at Imperial Tobacco Canada in a diversity of areas, including operations and supply chain, sales, marketing, warehouse and plant management, and quality assurance.

Mr. Guimond holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a specialization in operations and production management from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) in Montreal.

Vice-President, System Engineering


Raj Gupta was appointed the Vice President of Engineering in 2018 responsible for rail tracks, signals and communications, bridges, and design & construction. Mr. Gupta joined CN’s team after more than 25 years of global leadership experience in automotive, industrial, aerospace, and rail sectors.

Prior to joining CN, Mr. Gupta was with Trinity Rail Industries where he was most recently Vice President in the Rail Products Group responsible for engineering, innovation & product development, regulatory compliance, program management, lean and manufacturing process controls.

Previously at Parker Hannifin, Mr. Gupta led two global aerospace divisions with full financial (P&L) and operational responsibilities delivering profitable growth while serving various commercial, general aviation, and aftermarket customers. He also held corporate leadership positions for engineering & innovation, and quality to implement strategic initiatives to achieve organic growth and quality objectives for global businesses. In addition, Mr. Gupta had increasing cross-functional responsibilities including business strategy & planning and product system design during his tenure at Ford Motor Company.

Mr. Gupta holds a Master of Science degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. He has also completed executive coursework at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, Harvard Business School, and University of Chicago. He was also a board member of a non-profit product development and manufacturing consulting organization.

Mr. Gupta is based in Homewood, IL.

Paul Harridine was appointed Vice-President, Procurement and Supply Management in July 2017, and is based in Montreal.

Mr. Harridine came to CN with 30 years of experience in supply management, procurement and supply chain across many industries, including automotive and aerospace. Prior to joining CN, he was most recently the Chief Procurement Officer for DS Smith plc, a leading British-based international packaging business, where he was responsible for all procurement across 30 countries. Previously, he had been VP Purchasing Europe for Lafarge, a Paris-headquartered world leader in building materials, specializing in cement, construction aggregates, and concrete.

Mr. Harridine holds a Bachelor Economics from the Loughborough University of Technology and an MBA from Warwick University.

President TransX


Mike Jones is the President of TransX Group of Companies, a leading provider of premier integrated transportation services across North America. CN acquired TransX on October 30, 2018.

Mike started his career with TransX in 1988 as part of a management trainee program. He progressively held more senior roles, including Linehaul Manager, Director of Linehaul, and Vice President of Operations, prior to his current role.

Over Mike’s 30 years at TransX, he has been instrumental in growing TransX from a fleet of 200 trucks in 1992 to more than 4000 trucks and trailers, 2600 employees, and 11 different locations across Canada and the USA.

Mike holds an MBA and an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Manitoba.

MARK LERNER

MARK LERNER

Vice-President, Marketing and Business Development


Mark Lerner was appointed Vice-President, Marketing and Business Development in August 2018, based in Montreal. His responsibilities include overseeing all of CN’s business development activities, as well as corporate marketing, planning, eBusiness innovations, digital marketing including social media and customer engagement.

Previously Mark had been Vice-President, Corporate Marketing since March 2016 and Assistant Vice-President, Domestic Intermodal since 2010, where he was responsible for Marketing & Sales for all shipments within and between Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. From 2004 to 2010 Mark was Assistant Vice-President for International sales and was involved in bringing Cosco to the new Port of Prince Rupert. Prior to that, he worked in Marketing in the Metals & Minerals business unit.

Mr. Lerner joined CN in 1993, initially working in the Management Development Program.

Mr. Lerner holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree and an MBA, both from McGill University.

Prior to joining CN Mr. Lerner was a Management Consultant at Anderson Consulting.

Kelly Levis was appointed Vice-President, Industrial Products in October 2018, based in Montreal. In this role, she leads the industrial products division, which oversees forest products and metals and minerals markets. Prior to that, she had been Assistant Vice-President, Industrial Products since July 2015.

Ms. Levis joined CN in 1997 after seven years in the pharmaceutical industry. She began her career at CN as a commodity manager in CN’s Petroleum and Chemicals business unit and moved into Sales in January 2000 after being transferred to Chicago. She subsequently served as Director of Sales and Pricing for CN’s international freight forwarding subsidiary CN WorldWide Inc, Director of Supply Chain and Director Sales US.

Ms. Levis holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Chicago at Chicago, and a Bachelor of Commerce with a Major in Statistics & Decision Sciences from Concordia University in Montreal.

Jamie Lockwood was appointed Vice-President, Strategy in June 2020 and is based in Montreal.

Jamie joined CN’s Finance Department in 2008, holding positions with progressively increasing responsibilities, from Senior Accountant to Chief, Internal Audit. He brings considerable knowledge of the railway and financial management as well as strong process improvement skills. Jamie has a passion for improving the railway and finding new solutions to on-going challenges, resulting in strategic contributions to CN.

Jamie holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accountancy (2004) and a Graduate Diploma in Accountancy (2006) from Concordia University (Montreal, Quebec). He is a member of the Quebec Order of Chartered Professional Accountants.

 
RANCE RANDLE

RANCE RANDLE

Rance Randle was appointed Vice-President, Network Operations in September 2020.

He is responsible for the operations centres (Canada and USA) and the capacity planning group to optimize assets across CN’s network and support efficient system-wide operations. Rance has a proven track record of forward-looking leadership that enhances the customer and employee experience while maximizing safety, reliability, productivity and efficiency.

Prior to joining CN, Rance was Vice-President, North Operations at BNSF since 2015. He started his railroading career almost 25 years ago as a Train Conductor at BNSF, where he was quickly promoted to managerial positions of increasing responsibility.

Rance holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas.

Vice-President, Government and Regulatory Affairs


Cyrus Reporter joined CN as Vice-President, Government and Regulatory Affairs in April 2021. He oversees engagement at all levels of government in both Canada and the United States and leads stakeholder and community relations, an essential mission with CN’s focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance initiatives.

Cyrus is well known to senior public servants, politicians, and corporate leaders. In the past 25 years, he served as a ministerial chief of staff and lead adviser to the Office of the Prime Minister, and, most recently, as Partner at one of Canada’s leading national law firms, where he provided counsel on regulatory affairs, public policy and corporate compliance to many of Canada’s leading companies.

Cyrus has been an active member of the Ottawa community and was appointed to the Hydro Ottawa Holding Inc. Board of Directors in July 2021.

Cyrus holds a law degree from Dalhousie University.

Buck (Robert) Rogers was appointed Vice-President, Petroleum and Chemicals in April 2019, based in Homewood, IL. He oversees sales and marketing for CN's Petroleum and Chemicals business unit.

Previously, he held positions of increasing responsibility in Sales and Marketing including Assistant Vice-President Petroleum and Chemicals, Director of Sales Petroleum and Chemicals, Director of Regional Sales in Corporate Marketing and as a National Account Manager. He most recently served as Senior Director, Mechanical since January 2019.

Mr. Rogers has been involved in the rail industry for over 25 years gaining experience in both operations and sales. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he completed a Master of Science in Transportation from the University of Denver in 2018.

DOUG RYHORCHUK

Doug Ryhorchuk was appointed Senior Vice-President, Network Operations in December 2019. Based in Edmonton, he oversees CN’s operating plan, operating performance, the planning of track, crew and locomotive investments, service design and delivery, as well as rail traffic and crew dispatching.

Prior to this role, Mr. Ryhorchuk was named Vice-President, Network Operations in April 2019, Vice-President, Western Region in July 2016 and General Manager covering both BC and Alberta in 2015. Doug has been with CN since 1983 and has worked in both Engineering and Transportation.

Doug started in the Engineering Track Department and moved to Transportation as a First Line Supervisor in the late 90’s. He worked through operations roles in various locations in Western Canada and then moved to Toronto’s MacMillan Yard as the Transportation Superintendent. Doug is known for his leadership in driving significant improvements in productivity, employee engagement and process controls. As such, in 2009, Doug was recognized and received a CN President’s Award for Excellence for the development and implementation of the Scheduled Grain Plan, and then again in 2012 for the company’s transition towards becoming the Supply Chain enabler that CN is today. Doug is a strong proponent of safety, and his leadership style fosters positive working relationships with CN’s unionized workforce.

DEREK TAYLOR

DEREK TAYLOR

Vice-President, Eastern Region


Derek Taylor was appointed Vice-President, Eastern Region in December 2019. In his role, he has responsibility for portions of CN’s network in both the United States and Canada including from the U.S Gulf Coast to the Canadian border, from the Ontario border with Michigan to Toronto, and from Ontario to Nova Scotia.

Prior to his new role, Derek was CN’s Vice-President, Southern Region since August 2018. He has also served as General Manager in Fond du Lac, WI, and in Homewood, IL.

Derek joined CN as a Management Trainee in Winnipeg in 2000. He subsequently took on roles of progressively increasing responsibility, including as Trainmaster, Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent and General Superintendent, in a variety of locations, such as Chicago, Champaign, Memphis and Vancouver.

Derek earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at DePauw University, IN.

James Thompson was appointed Vice-President Western Region in April 2019, based in Edmonton. Most recently, he had been General Manager Alberta Region since 2016 and Superintendent Network Operations since 2015.

Mr. Thompson has worked for CN for over 20 years and has held positions of increasing responsibility in CN’s operation. At the start of his career, he worked as a Track Maintainer in Ontario and from there, has steadily worked throughout Ontario, Manitoba and Alberta honing skills of large team management, operational efficiency, contract negotiation, and budget management. Mr. Thompson has particular interest and deep experience in developing and implementing management training with an emphasis on safety culture.

DAVID TRENT

Vice-President and Chief Digital Officer


David Trent was appointed Vice-President and Chief Digital Officer in August 2019. Based in Montreal, David plays an essential role in the modernization and digitization of CN’s operations.

David assumes the overall responsibility to build a digitally agile organization and provides the best digital thinking and solutions to the business and our customers. David and his team also lead a centre of excellence for analytics and insights, which works with business and operational leaders to drive improved performance and customer experience.

David is a global IT leader with over 20 years of experience as a consultant, program director and CIO. In his most recent role, David was Vice-President, Technology and Digital, at Canfor Corporation, the world’s largest producer of sustainable lumber, pulp, paper and energy. His proven experience in creating value for the business and transforming an organization towards digitization is mission critical as we modernize CN.

David obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Simon Fraser University and earned a CPA, CMA designation. He has previously served on the Board of Directors for Canada's Digital Technology Supercluster.

JIM SOKOL

JIM SOKOL

Jim Sokol was appointed Vice-President, Mechanical in January 2018, based in Homewood, IL.

Prior to joining CN in 2018, Mr. Sokol was President MRO Services at HAECO Americas for three years. He previously worked at Southwest Airlines for 20 years, where he held the position of Vice-President, Maintenance and Engineering, and Vice-President, Maintenance Operations, among others.

Mr. Sokol’s responsibilities at CN include locomotive and railcar maintenance operations. With over 35 years of experience in the airline industry and MRO services, Mr. Sokol has a track record for leading strategies with a positive impact on operations while maximizing safety, reliability and efficiency.

Mr. Sokol holds numerous Certificates and Licenses in the airline industry, including those from the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and the Federal Aviation Administration.
