Over the last several months, Team CN hit the ice in support of Hockey Helps The Homeless, helping raise funds for local organizations that provide critical services to people experiencing homelessness.
Across six Canadian cities, 102 CN players laced up alongside former NHL players to participate in the annual charity tournaments. Supported by 25 CN volunteers, including employees, pensioners and family members, Team CN raised an impressive $85,983.27. Collectively, the tournament raised a record breaking $8.4 million to support homelessness initiatives across Canada.
Anthony Baratta, Senior Manager, Business Development, was amongst the participants. A former elite competitive hockey player, Anthony returned to the tournament for a second year, playing in 3 games in Montreal on March 27. He served as co-captain of one of two CN Montreal teams, alongside colleagues Alex Lepore, Manager, Corporate Development and Carlo Rizzo, Senior Expert, Cloud Architecture. Anthony and Alex are also Ambassadors for Railroaders for Change, CN’s new initiative focused on helping prevent homelessness. Their participation in this tournament reflects CN's commitment to safety and the belief that everyone needs a safe place to call home.
“I was proud to take part in an event that shows how powerful hockey can be in supporting a cause that matters deeply to our community,” says Anthony, who played center alongside hockey greats Keith Acton and Laurie Boschman. “What stood out most was the strong camaraderie and bond between CN team members. Connecting with teammates, hearing stories from former NHL players, and coming together for a shared purpose made it a truly meaningful experience.”
By supporting Hockey Helps The Homeless, Team CN is helping create positive change in communities across Canada, on and off the ice.
