Parents and Children

Everyone knows that good habits start early. We believe that the same applies to safe habits, especially around railroads. If you require any information or advice about how to talk to your children or their class about rail safety, you can email Public Inquiries or call 1-888-888-5909. A team member will be able to provide you with advice and promotional material. We may even be able to send a CN Community police officer to come and give a presentation to a group at a school or community event.

Through Operation Lifesaver, a public education program about crossing safety and the hazards of trespassing on railroad property, CN police officers donate their time to give presentations to more than 300,000 children and adults across Canada and the U.S. For more details, visit Operation Lifesaver.

Rail Safety Pledge

We invite you to learn more about rail safety, discover fun ways to talk about this serious issue, and to take the Rail Safety Pledge!

TAKE THE PLEDGE

Little Obie – CN’s Safety Train

Meet Little Obie, a scale CN locomotive that educates kids, big and small, about railroad safety.

Little Obie, a scale model of a CN locomotive, comes with a flatcar and caboose. The brainchild of former employee Paul Rose, Little Obie helps educate kids about the dangers of playing near the railroad tracks — in a fun and informative way.

To help promote rail safety to kids, CN is committed to ensuring that Little Obie can stop at events across Canada and the U.S. If you think Little Obie could make a difference at your event, please use our online request form. We would be delighted to review each request..

Please note that requests must be made 90 days before the event.
