New to Rail

New to Rail?

Your business is built around your products. You strive for quality and efficiency, delivering the best possible result to your customers.

Rail is our business. Like you, we work for nothing less than excellence. Delivering is what we do, treating our customers like partners and working alongside them from the first mile, to the last.

If you’ve always shipped one way, the prospect of shifting to a new supply chain can be daunting. That’s why we have a team of experts, ready to take your call.

Reach them here, 1-800-555-5555. If you aren’t sure where to start, consult our FAQ’s section.

Think about your shipping needs

The more information you can share with us, the quicker we can build a price and route that works for your business.

Ask yourself...

The weight of goods
you are shipping?

Are they time or
temperature sensitive?

The exact
destination?

If you need to ship
across the border?

What equipment you'll
need for shipping?

Communicate with the CN team

When you call CN, the first question our team will ask you is:

Carload or Intermodal?
You're an intermodal customer if your business is not directly served by rail. That means, unless you have rail siding that a CN or shortline partner train can access, your goods can be shipped by intermodal.

Staying safe along the way

Safety is one of the pillars CN is built around. That extends to customer safety.

We have a comprehensive Customer Safety Guidebook to give you all of the information you need to work safely with rail.

For information about the safety of your goods, consult our Damage Prevention Guide.

Customers are responsible for damage prevention when it comes to loading and securing cargo. If something is damaged during shipping and you believe CN is at fault, you can consult our Freight Claims section.
