In March of 2020, CN launched the first suite of five digital application programming interfaces (APIs), allowing customers to connect seamlessly with CN for track and trace shipment information, including ETA and GPS location details ─ a rail industry first!

As of August, millions of API messages were exchanged, signalling a new era of innovation, business transparency and seamless integration that we will continue to offer to CN customers in order to help them win in their markets.

When it comes to managing their supply chains, many CN customers rely on third party data aggregators to reduce complexity.

Using a data aggregator does not create a barrier or add complexity for CN customers who would like to use CN’s APIs. In fact, aggregators provide a single point of implementation and deliver standardized data, regardless of additional APIs or services consumed. A data aggregator can actually simplify the API integration process for CN’s customers. Aggregators combine powerful machine learning with real-time data, which can help customers lower costs and improve on-time shipping performance enabling them to better serve their customers.
