You should pay your invoices in the currency in which they are presented.
We recommend that you send your payment using electronic means to ensure speedy processing.
If you need to pay in a different currency be aware of the following:
- CN sets its currency conversion based on the Bank of Canada rate published on Friday by 16:30 EST.
- If Friday is a holiday, CN will use the rate from the previous business day.
- CN applies the exchange rate that is in effect on the date your payment is received.
- If payment is sent during the current week (Monday to Sunday) but CN receives payment the following week, then the following week’s exchange rate will apply.
The exchange rate is effective from Monday at 00:01 EST and expires the following Sunday at 23:59 EST.
As of May 5, 2017, CN will be using the new rates provided by the Bank of Canada.
For more historical rates please visit the Bank of Canada web site.
CN exchange rates published are for information purposes only. Official rates are found on the Bank of Canada web site.
