Storage Guarantee process for intermodal containers

Important - CN has moved to a 100% eBusiness storage guarantee requirement for all Canadian terminals. (No faxed guarantees will be accepted.)

Guarantee storage for a loaded import container

CN's eBusiness tool, Intermodal Shipment Status, allows you to view online the status of your storage guarantees for all your shipments. Furthermore, if you are a credit customer in good standing, you can instantly update your guarantee (by days or dollars) and have it confirmed online. You may enter amounts based on the terminal daily storage increments set out in tariff CN 9100.  In addition, the tool can be used to query expected shipments. You can also determine the first day of storage and the amount owing (if applicable). The amount owing must show a $0 balance prior to arranging pick-up.

Pre-requisites to using Intermodal Shipment Status to guarantee storage are:

  • You must be a CN credit customer in good standing
  • You must be a registered CN eBusiness user
