Low-Cube Covered Hopper
CN operates a wide range of covered hoppers to meet the needs of industry. These cars combine ease of loading and unloading with maximum protection from the elements.
Rotary Gondola
These specialized heavy-duty cars can be loaded and unloaded in minutes without being uncoupled. The capacity of these rotary gondolas ranges from 101 to 116 tons.
Private Cars
Open Hopper
Open hopper cars offer a fast, economical way to load and unload bulk freight. Cars provide plenty of space for loading iron ore and other aggregates.
Government Hopper (Canada)
These high-cube 100-ton and low-cube 88-ton grain cars contribute to successful Canadian sales abroad. They are of steel or aluminum construction and are supplied by the Canadian, Alberta and Saskatchewan governments.
High-Cube and Jumbo Covered Hopper (US)
CN operates a wide range of covered hoppers to meet the needs of the industry. These cars combine ease of loading and unloading with maximum protection from the elements.
Woodchip Gondola
Specially designed for the pulp and paper industry, these cars can hold up to 6,800 cubic feet of pulpwood chips. Open-top gondolas without doors, end doors or bottom gates are designed for top loading. Unloading can be performed by top, end or bottom, depending on car design.
Ore Gondola
Available in 36 foot length, ore gondolas offer a high carrying capacity of up to 106 tons.
