Rail Safety Week – CN launches Target Zero campaign in Canada

MONTREAL, April 22, 2009 — CN (TSX: CNR)(NYSE: CNI) invites media representatives to support Rail Safety Week from April 27 to May 3, 2009. This year, CN will launch its Target Zero public awareness campaign, aimed at ultimately reducing the numbers of trespassing and railway crossing accidents to zero.

Throughout the week, CN Police will be out in full force, conducting safety blitz operations at about 180 highway/railway crossings and commuter stations across Canada and the United States. They will be sending clear messages to motorists and commuters about the importance of safety at crossings as well as the deadly risks of trespassing on railway tracks and property.

The numbers of deaths and serious injuries from crossing accidents and from people trespassing on railway property remain unacceptably high.  CN will continue to work aggressively to bring down those numbers – through education, prevention and enforcement – with the ultimate goal of Zero accidents, Zero injuries and Zero fatalities.

A news release and list of blitz locations will be distributed on this newswire on Monday, April 27, 2009 at 6 a.m. (ET).
