CN donates $50,000 to Royal University Hospital Foundation

SASKATOON, May, 28, 2010 — The Royal University Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce today that CN has donated $50,000 to support the vital sign monitor replacement program. The donation will help to fund  the acquisition of upgraded/ reliable technology that meets with today's health standards in the Emergency Room, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

“This donation by CN will directly impact the diagnosis, treatment and ongoing care of our youngest and most vulnerable patients, and provide a measure of comfort and assurance to worried parents who stand vigil at the beside of a sick or injured child,” said Arnie Arnott, Volunteer Chair of the Royal University Hospital Foundation. “We are very grateful that CN has chosen to support our children at Royal University Hospital.” 

Mike Cory, CN's senior vice-president, Western Region, said: “CN is proud to support the Royal University Hospital Foundation's program of upgrading medical equipment that will benefit the health and safety of children. Through the CN Stronger Communities Fund, we are committed to helping provide a healthier and safer environment for children.”

The fund-raising goal for the Royal University Hospital Foundation program to replace monitors that in eighteen months will be considered obsolete is estimated at nearly $2 million.

Through the CN Stronger Communities Fund, CN supports health and safety programs for young people, transportation education, the CN Railroaders in the Community employee volunteer grant program, and United Way.
