CN supports Calgary youth through $100,000 donation to Renfrew Educational Services

CALGARY, April 20, 2009 — CN (TSX: CNR)(NYSE: CNI) announced today a $100,000 donation to Renfrew Educational Services in Calgary. The funds will go towards the organization's Bowness special needs program school as it relocates to the leading-edge Child Development Centre at the University of Calgary. The donation was announced in conjunction with CN's April 21 annual general meeting of shareholders in Calgary.

“CN is proud to offer this gift in support of the Renfrew Educational Services, an organization that each year helps 700 children in the Calgary community reach their full potential through their innovative approach to teaching and child development,” said Hunter Harrison, president and chief executive officer of CN.

“The strength of any community is rooted in the vitality and aspirations of its children and youth. Just like our friends at Renfrew Educational Services, CN believes that the best way to improve our communities is to promote and encourage our young people,” said Mr. Harrison.

“We are thrilled that CN is continuing their longstanding support of our organization,” said Janice McTighe, Executive Director of Renfrew Educational Services. “We know that CN shares our commitment to the youth of this community and their gift will certainly help us carry out this commitment as we move into a new facility.”

Renfrew Educational Services' Bowness special needs program school will relocate to the University of Calgary's innovative LEED certified Child Development Centre. This relocation will allow interdisciplinary, inter-faculty and inter-agency cooperation to collectively achieve global recognition for excellence in child development research, clinical and community practice. This action will create significant synergies between Renfrew Educational Services and the University of Calgary resulting in exemplary service for children, parents and fellow professionals.
