Key Performance Measures

The railroad performance measures are reported weekly. These measures represent only some of the indicators of railroad performance. Please be advised that you should not rely solely on this information as an indication of CN's overall performance, financial or otherwise, as it may be misleading when viewed in isolation.

Important Notice on AAR weekly carloadings. In week 1 of 2011, the AAR will make changes to the commodity groups used in the Carload section of the Weekly Railroad Traffic Report and on the classification of hazardous material (hazmat). CN has refreshed all weekly carload data back to 2005 with new AAR changes.

AAR Key Performance Measures (Train Velocity and Dwell)

On Wednesday July 14th, CN started participating in the Railroad Performance Measures Internet site of the AAR. The first week of data will present measures for the week ending July 9, 2010. The July 1st anniversary of integrating the EJ&E into CN's SRS operating system presented the company with the opportunity to start reporting operating metrics on a comparable basis with other Class 1 railroads. CN will supply external audiences industry standard metrics for dwell, train speed and cars on-line to allow consistent comparison of our performance with other Class 1 railroads. In addition, a 53-week history will be available to support year-over-year comparisons.

Note: The Company's Key Performance Measures include the EJ&E
