Damage Prevention & Freight Claims

Freight Claims is a service provided by CN to remedy customer issues for damage to their product while in transit on CN lines. Inspections of loads at CN destinations may be requested by informing the appropriate Freight Claims contact.   Freight Claims Settlement investigates claims for damaged and missing product to determine liability and payment.
 
Using the Damaged Freight Claims tool you can:

• Report damages for shipments terminating on CN
• Provide an intent to claim
• Submit a claim

Damage Prevention is a support function to provide expertise in shipment preparation for rail transportation.  Loading of railcars and Intermodal units in an appropriate manner provides less damage to the shipped commodity as well as provides a safer shipment. 

We provide the following service:

• Advice on loading open top railcars, closed railcars, and intermodal units
• Recommendations of AAR publications for general loading and loading of specific commodities
• Preparation of custom loading diagrams for unique products
• Inspections of loads prior to shipping
