Keeping You Informed - CN Labour Negotiations Update - September 27

September 27, 2010 - We want to bring you up to date on the status of our negotiations with the TCRC/CTY for the renewal of the four collective agreements covering CN's mainline conductors and traffic coordinators.

Here are the facts

  • CN accepted the recommendation contained in Conciliation Commissioner Michael Bendel's report, made public on September 7th, in an effort to avoid a strike or lockout. The union rejected the recommendation.
  • As a result, Mr. Jacques Lessard, Regional Director, Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, was appointed as Mediator to further assist CN and the TCRC in their negotiations and has been meeting with both parties to work towards reaching an agreement .
  • September 30th is the earliest date for a strike or lockout.
  • CN still hopes to negotiate new collective agreements with the TCRC without a labour disruption, through discussions with the TCRC and the assistance of the Mediator.
  • The earliest resolution to the outstanding issues is the best outcome for our customers, the Company and our employees.
