We Want to Keep You Informed - CN Labour Negotiations Follow-Up
September 1, 2010 - As follow-up to our email sent August 5, 2010, we want to keep you up to date with the progress of the negotiations for the renewal of the TCRC-CTY collective agreements (Teamsters Canada Rail Conference – Conductors, Trainpersons and Yardpersons.)
Negotiating a fair agreement that addresses the safety of our employees, the communities we touch and that also complies with industry-specific laws is very important in ensuring that CN continues to offer safe and reliable service to support our customers' supply chain and the growing global economy.
The conciliation process will end on September 5, 2010, with a report from the Conciliation Commissioner to the Minister of Labour. This report, which will be available to the parties, will provide the status of bargaining and the Commissioner's recommendations and findings. CN will be available to discuss these recommendations with the TCRC-CTY at the earliest opportunity. With September 27, 2010 as the earliest legal strike or lockout date, CN continues to be focused on reaching an agreement with the TCRC-CTY promptly and without a labour disruption.
Focus on service
We fully understand the critical role that CN plays in our customers' supply chain and as such, we have established a service plan to operate the railway efficiently and safely in the event of unforeseen circumstances, to ensure that customers continue to receive the best possible service.
We will continue to keep you informed on the progress in our negotiations with the TCRC-CTY. Our next update will follow the release of the Conciliator's report.
