In September 2003, Laird Pitz joined CN as Vce-President Risk Mitigation (US), based in Washington, DC.
His responsibilities include helping CN manage issues such as occupational disease litigation and legislation, FELA (Federal Employers' Liability Act) activities, and other risk related matters in the US.
Mr. Pitz comes to us with over 30 years senior management experience in the government, corporate and private sectors, where he has developed and managed business continuation strategies, crisis management and risk management programs. He has experience in civil and criminal litigation, as well as critical infrastructure. He has provided expertise to corporations engaged in technology, transportation (rail, truck, air and maritime), chemicals, logistics, metals, oil services, manufacturing, and defense, among others.
Mr. Pitz is a graduate of the University of Texas, with a B.A. Government (pre-law). In a wide-ranging and distinguished career, he has served as a US Army Captain; in the US Justice Department (FBI); as Director of Security for Mattel Corporation, Hawthorne, CA; Director, Assets Protection Whittaker Corporation, Los Angeles; General Manager, Assets Protection, Burlington Northern Railroad, Overland Park, Kansas; CEO, Alexis International, Inc. Reston, Virginia; and CEO of Ocean Bay, Inc, Palm Beach, Florida. Mr. Pitz has been a Senior Management Consultant to a variety of Fortune 500 corporations.
