Sameh Fahmy
Senior Vice-President, Engineering, Mechanical and Supply Management

Sameh Fahmy was appointed to the position of Senior Vice-President, Engineering, Mechanical and Supply Management, in June 2006. In this role, he has network-wide responsibility for CN's Engineering, Mechanical, Supply Management and Vehicle Fleet Management functions.

Mr. Fahmy first joined CN in 1981 as Manager, Technical Systems Support. He had previous railroad experience having worked at Amtrak and the Association of American Railroads. Prior to that, he worked for IBM from 1973 to 1977. He returned to CN in 1994 after having pursued other career interests between 1985 and 1994 with the Travelers Insurance Company and La confédération des caisses populaires et d'économie Desjardins.

He held the position of Director, Computing and Telecommunication Infrastructure, and in 1996 he joined Operations. In 1998 he was appointed to the position of Assistant Vice-President, Supply Management. In November of 2000, he was promoted to the position of Vice-President, Supply Management and in 2002, he became Vice-President, Engineering, Mechanical and Supply Management.

Mr. Fahmy is a certified general accountant, and holds a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from McGill University.
