We offer more than 500 courses and training programs in a variety of fields including technical skills, leadership and business skills, safety, and computers just to name a few. Employees also have access to more than 200 online interactive courses that can be completed from home.

Developing your Competencies & Managing Your Career

Each employee comes to CN with differing career aspirations. This could include becoming more specialized in a particular area, a lateral transfer to broaden their skill set, or a progression to a more senior position. Our Career Track tool helps by providing a formal channel to communicate their short and long-term career interests, while providing the company with a overview of available talent within the workforce.

Our On-Line Coaching tool is designed to help employees create a personalized development plan, with tips and action items, in three easy steps. This can then be downloaded into Excel and used to organize activities and keep track of your progress.

Developing Great Railroaders

Creating a workforce of passionate railroaders who bring business value through innovation, leadership and passion is key to CN's success. Regardless of where you work in the company, you have a unique hands-on opportunity to learn more about our business and to become a certified railroader.

Educational Financial Assistance

CN recognizes and assists employees who wish to develop their work related job or language skills through educational and training programs through tuition and book reimbursement. This supports benefits individual employees who are enrolled in programs, and benefits CN by developing a diverse pool of employees with new skills. This can include 100% of the tuition fees for each approved and successfully completed course along with up to $200 for text books.
