Development Opportunities: Analyst Programmer

Louis-Pierre Charbonneau

Name: Louis-Pierre Charbonneau

I spent my childhood in the jungle of Ivory Coast (western Africa), and my teens in Haiti. I came back to Canada to pursue university studies in Computer Engineering. Along the way I got married and now have a 2 year-old son. When I graduated from Computer Engineering in 2005, I decided to give CN a chance, and haven't regretted it one bit.

My role

On a day-to-day basis, I perform a lot of tasks including analysis and development. I have the opportunity to work with various teams in different capacities. I've performed work with document management, a document scanning infrastructure, the corporate website, and our e-Business solution, just to name a few. My work is varied, challenging and interesting. I get to work with state-of-the art technologies, alongside experienced co-workers who are always willing to share their knowledge.

My team

The people and the culture at CN are amazing. There's a lot of laughter. Employee empowerment is a focus of CN's culture. We are constantly working together to redefine processes and our way of working, to improve ourselves and to make CN go further.

Challenges

My biggest challenge is to learn the different technology that I am involved with. There's always something new to discover. There's hardly a technology that you won't find at CN.

My personal contribution in the advancement of the company

My work with document management contributes to running the business better by transforming mountains of paperwork and putting that information at the fingertips of those who need it. My work with our e-Business solution led to improving the way our customer do business with us.

Why did I apply for this job?

CN offers me everything I wanted: good benefits, promotion possibilities, a variety of tools to work with, interesting projects, state-of-the-art technology, personal development and learning opportunities, and a friendly working environment. Do I need to say more?
