What you can expect as co-op student

  1. Submitting your application

If you are in a co-op program and you want to do a work session with CN, we invite you to contact the department responsible for work sessions at your educational institution directly. We contact the schools every term. They receive job descriptions for each of the openings to be filled. You can apply for those that are of most interest to you. Your institution will send the students' applications to us.

  2. Interview

If you have the required competencies, either you will be contacted by a CN recruiter by telephone or we will inform your institution of our interest (depending on the procedure required by your school). We will then invite you to come and meet with us. For the interview, there are usually two or three interviewers, including the recruiter and your future superior. This meeting lasts about one hour and a portion of it will focus on technical questions.

  3. Verifications

We will also ask you to complete a document authorizing us to verify if you have a criminal record.

  4. Response

Once the recruiting process has been completed or a decision has been made in your respect, either you will receive a response (email or telephone) or we will notify your institution, depending on the procedure to be followed.

  5. Job offer

If you are selected for the position, the recruiter or your institution will contact you to explain the conditions offered and plan your first day of work.

  6. Future opportunities

If you are not selected for the training position, we invite you to apply again the next term. The experience you acquire over a four-month period can make a difference.
