The Calgary Logistics Park requires approval from two levels of government: the federal government and Rocky View County. The federal government has jurisdiction for the Project site, while Rocky View County has jurisdiction over those lands that will eventually be developed for future customer use.
Federal Regulatory Process
The Canadian Transportation Agency is the department that leads the federal process. Under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, the Project is required to undergo an environmental screening to assess its potential effects on the environment.
This assessment addresses the atmospheric and biophysicalenvironments, and heritage resources. It includes consideration of issues identified by the public.
Municipal Regulatory Process
A zoning amendment is necessary from Rocky View County to enable development within the future customer areas (see Site Layout display panel).
All of the technical work being completed as part of the federal environmental assessment process will be used in support of the County's land use amendment (zoning) process.
