October 30, 2009 - In January 2008 CN changed its' private empty railcar policy from mileage equalization to a “back to back” policy. After receiving several requests from our customers, we have created a job aid that will answer all your questions about our private empty railcar policy.
We also encourage you to pay special attention to your payer of freight information. When information regarding the revenue status or the payer of freight is missing or inaccurate on a bill of lading, and we must make the changes, fees of $105 per railcar will be charged to the shipper as per tariff CN 9000 item 3050.
